1 week

It's been a week since my Lap...and I'm still hurting....a lot. I attempted to go back to work Wednesday but only lasted until lunchtime where I finally admitted to myself that the shaking and sweating wasn't so good. If it wasn't for my supervisor talking about how when she had her Lap she was back to work the next day I would have left at lunch yesterday too. I guess I thought that I'd be back to normal sooner than this. I feel like a baby complaining about pain when I only have 2 small incisions. For those of you who have gone through a Lap, how long did it take you to recover?

And how long afterwards did you get AF? I just realized today that he gave me paperwork to do bloodwork on Day 21 & 28 of my cycle. In my drugged state last week I don't remember if that meant for this cycle or the next one. I guess a call to the office is in order....

I've been asking myself if getting this done was really worth it. I mean, I just had this feeling that other than the fibroids, everything would turn up clear. And clear it was. He said that there was no clear reason for the infertility. And that is just so frustrating. I so want a concrete answer. Even if the answer was negative, that we'd never be able to get pg, I think I would eventually be fine with that. Instead, I'm left with nothing. I know that I'm jumping ahead and that there's still many things that he can do, I guess that's what laying around for a week does to you - too much time to think.

I'm pretty sure that diet plays a big part for me. So...as I've said a gazillion times before on this blog....I'll work at eating really well. Let's see how long that lasts....

  1. Hi :)
To be honest, I recovered pretty quickly from my lap. I was already exercising (gently at first) the day AFTER the surgery. However, my two incisions were a bit tender to the touch for at least a week.
I didn't have fibroids or polyps though. Just a cyst and stage 2 endo.
Also, I started my period about a week later, but I was on birth control for a few weeks prior to my lap, so that's probably why I started so soon afterward.
I hope you feel better soon!

  2. So sorry your not healing as fast as you were hoping. I'm sure people heal at their own pace. I hope you feel better soon!

  3. I think it took me a couple of weeks to recover from my lap. And sure, it's only small incisions, but they WERE rummaging around in your innards! I would obviously have loved to recover sooner, but I'm a slow healer, plus the endo they lasered off was pretty bad. Go easy on yourself, and I hope you feel better soon!

  4. Ok so I've never had a lap anything to do with girly bits before but I know after my lap appy it was a good 2 weeks before I felt pretty normal again. I think we tend to push ourselves too much too soon. I hope your feeling better soon and hope your boss realizes that her saying she was back to work the next day (who the hell does that?) isn't helpful to you. Hugs to you.

  5. I think it depends on the person... I know after laps it takes me a couple of weeks before I can go back to work, and even then I'm a bit wobbly. And even after a couple of weeks I was still in pain, but I think that's because of my endo rather than anything else. Remember small scar or not, they have been through a lot of muscle and tissue!

  6. Hi,
I remember my surgion telling me that if he had a lap he would be back to work the next day. He suggested when I had mine done (April 6, 2010) that I only take the day of my surgery off and then the next day. He said I should be back to normal within 48 hours. Uh no way.....that wasn't happening. Luckily a girl at work told me it took her a week. I had my surgery on Tuesday and was back at work feeling good the next Monday. However everyone is different. I literally did nothing until the Saturday after and even then I was feeling dizzy and really tired. Tomorrow is my follow up with the surgion so I will see how it went. I was anticipating 2 incisions and came out with 4 so I am a bit curious.
