January ICLW

Hello everyone and welcome to ICLW! This is my 3rd time participating and I just love it. It's such a great way to "meet" new people throughout the blogging community. For some info on my TTC history click here. At the present time we're planning on adopting but first have to move into a bigger place. So we're on the hunt for that in the near future. I have a bit of an issue with patience so the wait seems like it's going to take forever.
After much deliberation I have finally figured out what I want to do when I grow up. ha ha. I've been doing office work my whole career but have always hated it. I went to career counselling and she helped me narrow down some choices. I'll be starting a course called "Child and Youth Care" which will let me work with kids who have developmental disabilities or are in the fostering system and need some counselling and assistance. I'm hoping to start my first course February 1st. I'll be doing it part time and mostly from home so it'll take me awhile, but its a step in the right direction. I also just got approved to mentor kids in the foster care system. So, for the first time in a long while, it seems that there are things to look forward to.
Thanks all for visiting my blog and I look forward to getting to know all of you!

  1. It's always good to figure out what you want to do when you grow up. I finally came to terms that I am destined to be a photographer and so I am officially back in school. As they say, it's never too later :)

    Happy ICLW!!!

  10. Woo I'm finally caught up in reading your posts! So exciting :)

The new career path sounds great. I've never even thought of going to a career counselor - where did you get the idea? I wonder if they have them around here... Good luck with that class you want to take. I hope it turns out to be something you love!

  11. I'm always a bit conflicted about my career path too- I'm so glad you've figured out what yours should be!! That's really awesome. And the Foster Mentor idea is really cool- I hadn't heard of that (I may look into it, too. Idea theft, w00t).

  12. I also have a problem with waiting, everything seems to go so much slower when you're working towards a goal.

It's really brave of you to take the jump and change your career to something you actually want to do. Best of luck with your course!
